The Challenge
The Honda Insight sustained extensive accident damage affecting the front body structure, windscreen, suspension and safety systems, together with additional damage to the rear bodywork. The SRS system was affected, including the steering airbag, dashboard airbag, safety belts and SRS module.
Work Completed
Accident Repair & Bodyshop
Major accident repairs included replacement of the nose cut assembly, bonnet, bonnet hinges, front bumper slides, front wing panels, stone guards and front windscreen.
Additional body repairs were carried out to the boot lid panel, LHS rear wing panel and rear bumper.
Structural jigging and welding were completed as required before final alignment and reassembly.
Diagnostics, Electrical & AC
The accident-damaged safety system was attended to with replacement of the steering airbag, dashboard airbag, SRS module and safety belts.
The battery was also replaced subject to the assessed contribution, and the A/C system was regassed following the accident repairs.
Paint & Refinishing
Following the structural and body repairs, the affected panels were prepared using 2K primer and professionally refinished to restore a consistent exterior finish.
Service & Mechanical
Mechanical repairs included replacement of the LHS front shock absorber, LHS front lower arm and gearbox mounting.
The engine sump guard, air cleaner housing and air cleaner element were also replaced as required.
The Result
The Honda Insight underwent comprehensive accident restoration involving replacement of the damaged front-end components, windscreen and affected mechanical parts. The SRS system was restored with replacement airbags, safety belts and SRS module, while structural jigging and welding were carried out and the rear body damage repaired. The affected panels were then prepared and professionally refinished, with the air-conditioning system regassed following completion of the repairs.
